Yamaha Motors R&D Centre in Uttar Pradesh

Japanese motor-bike manufacturer Yamaha Motor has announced that it will set up a fifth global research and development facility(R & D) headquartered in Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh that would help develop low-cost models for the future. The company is working to roll out a motor-cycle priced at around US$ 500.

Siemens opens two R&D test facilities for wind turbine technology in Denmark

Hamburg, Germany – 12 March 2013 - Siemens Energy has opened two major Research & Development test facilities for wind turbine technology in Denmark. The new test center in Brande features test stands for major components of Siemens wind turbines, including generators, main bearings and complete nacelles. In Aalborg, seven blade test stands are capable to perform full scale tests of rotor blades, including the world's largest blade in operation with a length of 75 meters. In combination, the two facilities form the world's largest R&D test center for wind turbine technology.

Audi look to China for R & D

German premium carmaker Audi AG has opened a research and development centre in Beijing that it said will help localize products for Asia.

More than 300 R&D experts at the centre will work on new engines, car bodies, electronics and batteries, said Audi. It also has a prototype workshop, vehicle test facilities and 3D development environment Teams will be active in product customization for Asian customers, including solutions in electronics and connectivity, said the company.

Cuadrilla brings full monitoring kit to Westby, Lancashire

Cuadrilla will install a comprehensive suite of monitoring equipment at its Anna’s Road site in Westby so that it can undertake seismic and fracture monitoring in the area. The company, which is exploring for natural gas in shale rock deep beneath the surface in Lancashire, completed the installation of the sensitive monitoring technology around its Banks site in West Lancashire last year, and has now confirmed that it will install the same systems at its Anna’s Road site in the Fylde.
